ooo-eeer. Probably best buy the stuff as kit yourself. I know me and Glenn and Matt would GAG to help paint and assemble one. Fett building as Matt tells me is riddled with internet snobbery, as example if you ever visit Clonetroopers.net ( clone building is just as bad )you will get a taste of how nasty they can be. It will be a labour of love and you must pick your version, ROTJ or ESB.

Probably best buy the stuff as kit yourself. Problem here is i've been looking around for a long while for a kit and all I can ever find is whatever's up on ebay... Is there something I'm missing? I know me and Glenn and Matt would GAG to help paint and assemble one. Well if I ever find any you are more than welcome ^^

Right, as the resident Fett Expert I need to know a couple of things in order to help you: How much are you willing to spend? How accurate do want it to be? How much can you build/paint/sculpt/cut yourself? Both Jango and Boba are notoriously expensive and difficult suits to achieve IF you wish to make them accurate. The first place HAS to be : www.thedentedhelmet.com/forums/index.phpAs for parts, some of the best stuff out there is made by this guy: www.bobamaker.co.uk/You will also have to decide on which version you wish to do . There are 2 popular versions of Jango , the main differenced being the jetpack, and MANY versions of Boba Fett, the main ones being ANH SE version ( amalgamation of ESB and ROTJ ) ESB & ROTJ Personally I went for the ESB version : Not that accurate but good enough for joe public down here and never meant to be UKG clearable. A word of warning . If you intend for this to be even half way accurate or UKG acceptable you will need to either be very talented or have about £1000 to spend. It is widley accepted that the only costume more time and money consuming than a Fett is Vader , and There is far more to get wrong with Boba especially. But if you can do it, go for it!!! ;D

I dont think I (atm) have enough money/skill to make one UKG clearable, just one that's good enough to maybe attend some of the troops you guys do around the island...
Well maybe one that's upgradeable one day!
I wouldnt mind having a go at cutting painting sculpting but never done anything like this so I have no idea how good I'd be at it. But alwas willing to try ;D
Will have a nosey at some of the links you gave... Thx

Personally speaking, I am a fan of the custom Mandalorian - essentially a Fett helmet & armour but with your own colour scheme and extra bits. If it's custom then you can't be ripped to shreds by the purists. ...no, you aren't supposed to be looking at HER!

Good idea...there is loads of Mandalorian war cult stuff to explore....purists, as Scott says can make you feel miserable, this is why I'm doing a Kashyyyk wookiee rather than " Chewbacca". I want artistic freedom in this one and besides, the problem with doing a Chewy is your eyes are drawn to what is wrong......there are so many bad wookiees out there....

Got a mate in Oz who has made a first class one, I will dig some pics out for you. And yeah, the term "anally retentive" was invented for the hardcore Fett fans.

Damn it. This has got me looking at doing a Mandalorian now. I've even started assembling parts to make a jetpack from. I've got the back from a broken office chair which is just CRYING OUT to be used - plus it's already nice & padded (Matt will tell you all about jetpack discomfort...)

OK, here's a link from TDH which gives you various different sizes of armour templates: www.thedentedhelmet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7825They are done by a guy called wizardofflight who is notoriously good at this stuff. BobaMaker: www.bobamaker.co.ukInteresting that he will do the helmet WITHOUT the dent for custom Mandalorians. Going to get on of these for certain.

That is truly horrible... It's like some gimpy-fetish-fett.
Under that lid he probably has one of those red ball gag things on.
I like the 'Look at all the old sh*t I had knocking around the garage' jetpack though. Pure class.

Jim's post was just the pic you posted Lukey but the link was shagged so I am hosting the pic from my photobucket and deleted Jim's post just to keep it tidy.

I've been doing loads of work on this recently. I will post more pics soon but here's a few... I've also done the thighs, shins, started the gauntlets, jet pack, knees and bucket. This is totally custom and based on my black TIE flightsuit & boots. He's also going to have a Kama as I think this is a very cool look. The idea is to make this all from stuff I either already have or can scrounge. Luckily I have two whole sheets of Sintra so I am off to a good start. The chest & ab armour is Sintra, the shoulder bells are cut from a Dulux Weathershield pot (decent, thick plastic). The shins are also Sintra (Jango style) and the thighs are made from a fermenting bin which I used to use in my fishkeeping days. The knees are made from 4" PVC drainpipe, as are the lower sections of the gauntlets. The Jetpack is made from various interesting bits I have been collecting at work. I am especially excited about getting this finished! I have the dome of the bucket almost done and have cut all the other parts from Sintra & the rest of the fermenting bin using Wizardofflight's templates. Suffice to say I wouldn't even attempt scratch-building a Mando bucket if it wasn't for Alan and his amazing templates. I was going to keep this all under-wraps until it was finished as I know I am the king of unfinished costumes (Iron Man still sits silently in a box). However, this has got me especially stoked so I thought I would share my progress. I've been posting on the Mando Mercs forum for a little while now and have got some good ideas from over there. More pics soon!!!

I'll post pictures tomorrow but I've made more progress on this over the weekend, mostly on the bucket.
I'd like some suggestions regarding colour schemes if you don't mind. I'm using a black flightsuit as the base and have black boots. I was thinking orange & silver for the hard parts with LOTS of weathering. I'm having a kama (half cloak which hangs from the belt) which will be black on the outside but could possibly be lined in colour if it wasn't going to look too much.
Ideas anyone???

What better to make a scratch-built bucket from than buckets? With that in mind, I 'found' two of these at work: The dome is the plastic inner helmet from a US M1 Army lid. Here it is laid next to my rough-cut inner section: I cut off the brim of the Army helmet and then set about joining the two pieces together. This was by no means easy and resulted in a LOT of very foul language: The two pieces were tacked first with a hot glue gun, then rivetted. I also used some brass self-tapping screws in places. Once everything was secure, I ran a bead of epoxy round the seams. There were a lot of holes left in the M1 helmet from where the webbing was rivetted in. Out with the filler: Finally, here's my trying it on. It's sitting a little low as there is no padding inside yet. I've cut the outer section from cardboard just to see how it's going to look. It will make a lot more sense after I have cut out the cheeks:
