...that's pretty much the standard question we get asked whenever we are in costume. It's not such a 'black art' as people suspect, although getting hold of certain costumes can be difficult at times. It does help to be a member of the UK Garrison as they have access to pretty much everything you can imagine. If you do have a specific request, post it up on the boards. One of us is bound to be able to help. For example, if it's a Stormtrooper costume you are looking for, TK2388 & myself can help you out there. Whilst we will not be posting email/www addresses publically on this forum (for legal reasons), we can provide the information privately. Troop On!

As I've posted in other threads, I can also help source a fair amount of Boba & Jango Fett parts, or atleast point you in the right direction

I know there are some of you out there who are considering a helmet upgrade. Whilst there are many different lids to choose from, as can be seen here: www.starwarshelmets.com/My personal choice of the moment is the RT-mod from Canada. www.rt-mod.comCheck the my Helmet section on his site for pics. I can also vouch for his armour having seen it up close and personal.

Hi guys not been on in a while (online friend of glenns)
Always wanted a Stormtrooper outfit (would display it at home and if the opportunity arose for trooping have a go) thats the reason I met glenn, started collecting 1:6th as I couldnt afford the advertised £2000 for an 18 piece Storm outfit id seen so someine bought me a 12 inch one for my birthday (awwww)
Wondered realistically how much would a Stormtrooper outfit be ?
Realise there will be more expensive outfits and the cheaper ones, just wondered what a mid range would cost ? and although im not adverse to DIY whats the No No's for beginners and what should I definitely have to outsource ? and where if anyone knows could I source a cheap mannequin to display it on when not in use ? one that can strike a pose ? (Vogue Trooper if you will)

For a nice "accurate" set of armour,(this particular sculpt by a guy who calls himself TE ) is around £550 for the armour+lid. It is currently considered one of the best. The cheapest (FX ) is falling in price dramatically at the moment due to not only other more accurate stuff becoming readily available , but also a New FX sculpt being worked on as we speak. You can get cheap dummies on ebay from Germany occasionally for about £80 On a side note, anyone wanting to buy SDS armour had better buy it within the next 24/48 hrs. (You heard it here first ) For more info follow the link. It gets REAL interesting after about page 5. You may have to register, but if you are into props I can guarantee it worth it. : thepropden.aokforums.com/1-vt1769.html?postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Rik was speaking to a bloke at Mem about his SDS armour....he said it was too fragile to troop in and after seeing picture on their site of the leg armour being put on like its orange peel ( it's that thin! ). Slasher may be worth talking to. A lidless FX kit for £150 and a White Armour lid. Slasher sorted me with a lid from the guy and apart from the fact I wasn't able to build the lid myself ( as I would have done a good job on it ) I'm pretty much in love with after going ESB on the decals and frown. With all of us to help you can get there cheaper and don't forget, you can upgrade piece by piece after your kitted....

Whew a lot of questions there and only a few months ago me a Rik were asking Matt those when his mind was on more important things ( Leia ) here's a few answered... Nomex flight gloves from Gecko £15 GREAT and no p&p when from them. Helmet fans..worry about that at the last, at least three of us can't be arsed to use them. Colour matching? Under natural/mixed light different sourced armour looks okay. Under strong flash or weird spectrum fluorescents you may notice it, see my thread
Upgrading TK
In ANH there is weird colour matches too. Most future yellowing can, if it become an issue, be dealt with with polishing paste, and anyway the UV stabilising in helmet stickers is only guaranteed for five years.
blaster? White armour does a sweety. Me, Dave, Rik and Matt sport one.
Hope my two cents are a help ;D

So lets say : £200 - £250 Helmet £50 - £80 for a MR ( needs modifying) or an FX (WILDLY inaccurate). £125 to £250 for a Movie accurate lid. £200- 650 depending on level of accuracy. Approx £200-250 for FX ( what most troopers use. Not as accurate as some but will last longer, and is more comfortable. £ - £ Blaster £50 for a toy hasbro plus conversion kit - £250 for MR blaster ( WAY heavy for trooping. Dave ( slasher ) has a good source for blasters. Pretty much spot on. Champion attitude boots. About £65 . What 99% of troopers use. £15 for nomex flight gloves, £5 for movie accurate black rubber gloves. £?? - £?? Helmet Microphone See here: www.romfx.com/optional extras £?? Helmet Cooling Fans ?? Old PC fans connected to a 9v battery ( one per) works fine and should cost under a tenner. I take it I could use the leather stuff I sent to glenn for the holster (glenn if you read let me know) Holsters are about £10 -£15 on ebay mate. Although Im looking at ebay and theres soooooooo much and alot of its cheaper than the EFX helmet being advertised here : www.efxcollectibles.com/ There are cheaper and better lids available, just avoid anything from south america and anything in fibreglass. Like I said, go for ABS, avoid fibre glass like the plague. Troopable when modded, see here for advised modifications: iowswcc.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=wip&action=display&thread=154Exact same helmet as the EFX. EFX are doing them using MR molds as MR no longer holds the liscence and there was a shortfall in MR's production run. Fibreglass so greta for display, but heavy for trooping Same as first helmet posted. Looks like a bit of a minefield tbh !] You do not know the half of it mate lol. ;D Also would like to add the voice changer and mic at some point to the helmet ? www.romfx.com/Straight away I can forsee issues matching the colours of the helmet to the armour Also how about yellowing ? Had upvc windows that went yellow so Im expecting this stuff will too As Luke has said, the original lids and suits did not match each other so do not worry about it. If the armour is abraded and the UV layer is removed it will yelllow. But Watch the films again and you will see just how shitty looking the film suits were and you will soon stop worrying about the occasional scuff. Hows about this for a question : I aint a small person 6 ' and of portly build (fat) 36 to 38 " waist etc Can I still look cool in a Stormtrooper ourfit fat stormies ?? Does the armour need to be tailored to fit ? or is it generic enough to fit and look ok on anyone ?? Most armour needs to be tailored to fit the individual. If size may be an issue then there is always the Biker Scout costume to consider. another fan fav with the added bonus of the ability to see where you are going AND be able to sit down. if you choose to go this route , PM me for details ?? Nice, but heavy and a pain to troop with. Dave can sort you with details for a better option. Hope some of these answers are of use to you mate.

"£15 for nomex flight gloves, £5 for movie accurate black rubber gloves." Sorry but nobody I saw at Mem were in rubber gloves!! Screen ones had hand plate fused to them too. Smelly and uncomfortable. Good for washing dishes though "Champion attitude boots. About £65 . What 99% of troopers use." 99%? 99% wear Caboots Stormtrooper boots surely. We all wear them and they are £40, yours have served you faithfully Matt! ;D Lycra and Google yield weird results. "Trik toys" do an excellent under suit for £30, the best value/convenient/quality ever and I won't hear otherwise.. sorry if anything I has writ is caustic...should be at work now...bloody internet...it's all your fault Matt....haven't even had my poo........the smell...aaaarrrgggh
