Although the IWSWCC is not officially linked to the 501st UK Garrison, we do ask that all costumed members become UKG members. There are two main reasons for this: Many of our events will, in future, be tied-in with the UK Garrison. Basically if your costume has not been cleared by UKG staff, you will not be able to attend. Secondly, we need to maintain the highest levels of costuming standards at all times. The UKG clearance procedure involves a thorough costume check. It's rare for a costume to be rejected for clearance but it is very important to go through the process anyway. There are also certain rules regarding costuming in public which the UKG lay down. These are rules which the IWSWCC sticks to wherever possible. The rules are there to keep the 'magic' of the Star Wars universe intact, as well as to protect the public. Most of them are common sense; no smoking, swearing or drinking in costume, no removal of helmets in public, the use of weapons (not pointing at faces), speaking (ie remaining in character - if your character doesn't speak, you don't speak). To apply for UKG Membership, click on the following link and follow the instructions. You will need to submit 4 photos of your costume; left, right, front, back and a close up head & shoulders shot without helmet/mask. www.ukgarrison.com/Scott Anderson - Forum Administration
